FYP Schedule & Guidelines

Dear students,

The FYP presentation is just around the block..dah dekat pun...have you all done your mock presentation to your supervisor?

Here is the FYP presentation guidelines, IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE NOTICE BOARD !!!!

THE PRESENTATION FORMATS ARE AS STATED BELOW:


1) Presentation Duration

a) Student’s Presentation – max: 15 Minutes

b) Q&A – max: 25 Minutes

2) Compulsory Items in Student’s Presentation

PSM II (UTM STUDENTS ONLY)

1) Objectives and scope of work must be highlighted again (briefly)

2) Introduction & Literature Review (Refresher Only-max 5 mins)

3) Methodology (Briefly but have be precise)

4) Result & Discussion (Thorough + detail data & in-depth analysis)

5) Conclusion (Must answer the objectives given earlier)

6) Recommendation & Future Works (Able to foresee and expand findings potential/outputs)

7) References


FYP I (UPNM STUDENTS ONLY)

1) Introduction (Able to give a general overview of the topic of interest)

2) Problem Statement (what are the pertaining issues or conflict or problem arising from the introduction/subject matters)

3) Objectives (the targets/approaches to be taken to solve the problem)

4) Scope of Work (include the limitation)

5) Literature Review (Published works or information related or to support the issue : problem statement/objectives/project title)

6) Methodology (detail measure taken to achieve the objectives)

7) Preliminary Data or work executed so far in FYP I

8) Gantt Chart (detail planning of the approaches/methods used)

9) References

10) Logbook must be made available to the Chairperson during the presentation session



**All students ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THESE ITEMS to the EXAMINERS.:

PSM II (SZM 4924)

a) An executive summary of your work (Compulsory)

b) An approved PSM II Report comb binded with plastic covers

c) A Powerpoint presentation printout (maximum 2 slide per page to be made available during the presentation session)

***Upon receiving the PSM II results (pass), students have to produced 5 hardcopy (binded with harcover as UPNM color and text format) to the Faculty for storage purposes. If you fail to do so, the FACULTY will suspend your PSM result and you may have problem in getting your transcripts


FYP I (EMT 4752)

a) An approved FYP I Report (comb binded) with plastic covers

c) A Powerpoint presentation printout (maximum 2 slide per page to be made available during the presentation session)

OK, FKJ have announced its thesis/report writing format. Please use this format for your FYP II Final Report Submission for next semester. The format that i have introduce is now obsolete. The format is here

C'mon..wake up wake up....

Dear Students,

I have heard lots of comments from your supervisors bout your 1st-3rd progress. I am quite suprise most of you told your supervisors that you dont have a clue of what you are supposed to do for FYP I.

This is sad...really.

Ok. No more main-main. I have drafted the manual for you all. Please refer to me ASAP if you have any queries.

The Things that i have promised

Dear FYP students,

Sorry bout the delay. Pusat ICT refused to unblock the normal online storage site that i normally used to upload docs.

So i had to find other alternative.

Please read thru all of these docs.

1) The logbook manual. You just follow the instruction. If you are rajin enough...you can edit the FORM(s) first before pasting it to your logbook. Kalau tak , print saja dan gam. Tulis sendiri. Download here

2) I think most of you must be very busy doing your proposal..well this is the template. Download here. If you want to see a sample...well come and see me personally. Sorry proposal R&D is confidential. If not, you can ask for your supervisor's ..If he/she has applied FRGS grant before.

Bout the BUDGET part, if you dont have anything to buy..just ignore it

3) I drafted a FYP I guidelines.. It is a very importance document when you are preparing the Final FYP I Report (Week 14 kena submit nanti). Download here

LAST WARNING FOR PSM PRE REGISTRATION

Dear Potential Students,

Please be informed that i have yet to received any emails or hardcopy proposal for you all.

Be warn, i will NOT entertain any late submission after 1200H Friday 9th April 2010. Any late submission will be thrown into the dustin in front of my office. (You can check after 1200H)

Remember you must submit both (softcopy & hardcopy version) to me before the given dateline. Dont give me any lame excuses of not being informed or dont understand my instruction. PLEASE REFER TO my section EMM3303 and EMM 3412 student's for details...or me (better).

Softcopy proposal form must be emailed to bajukebal@gmail.com (with your photo). No need to scan PA signature.

Hardcopy proposal form must be submitted to me (no photo required) but must have PA signature.

Latest Update on PSM

Dear Potential PSM students,

Pls be informed that the ICT have yet to resolve our online registration for PSM.

Therefore, i am initating the manual form for this matter. Please use the given form and submit the completed hardcopy (+ signature PA) to me before 9/4/10 1200H. Please also submit the softcopy (without signature PA) to my email bajukebal@gmail.com

for those who are not sure whether you are eligible to take PSM pending to the pre-requisite subjects (taken this semester), dont worry, just fill up the form and submit. If so happens that you dont qualify (exam tak lepas), then you automatically not allow to do your PSM. Tapi kalau lepas ,carry on.

WARNING TO SZM4924 PKDT SESSI 2009/2010-2

Pihak Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal telah mendapati terdapat segelintir PKDT SZM 4924 TIDAK menyerahkan Laporan PSM BERJILID KULIT kepada fakulti.

Oleh yang sedemikian, ketua jabatan, dekan dan saya telah bersetuju memberikan tarikh akhir sehingga 15/01/09 untuk PKDT tersebut menghantar Laporan Berjilid tersebut.

Jika GAGAL, pihak fakulti akan memohon pada Senat UTM untuk menangguhkan pengijazahan kamu. Implikasinya, PKDT tersebut akan kehilangan senioriti dan juga tidak akan ditauliahkan.

SZM 4912/SZM 4924 UPDATES

Wahai Pkdt-Pkdt sekalian,

Selamat datang ke blog baru saya... Ada update terbaru daripada saya mengenai PSM. Sila rujuk dibawah:

Panduan dan Jadual Pelaksanaan PSM I & II untuk Semester 2 2008/2009 Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal

(sila klik pada jadual untuk saiz penuh)

Perhatian:


1) Para Pkdt perlu mendapatkan kelulusan daripada Penyelia masing-masing sebelum menyerahkan Laporan PSM kepada Penilai PSM.

2) Format Laporan PSM mestilah mengikut format seperti dinyatakan dalam Panduan Penulisan Tesis UTM (sila rujuk website UTM)

3) Para Pkdt PSM II perlu membuat pembetulan sepertimana dinyatakan oleh Penilai PSM dan Penyelia masing-masing sebelum menyerahkannya untuk dijilid. Suatu borang akuan akan dikeluarkan dan penyelia dikehendaki menandatangi kelulusan untuk membuat jilid tersebut.

4) Mana Pkdt PSM II yang gagal untuk menyerahkan laporan berjilid sebelum tarikh yang telah ditetapkan, maka markah PSM kamu akan ditahan dan pada markah PSM transkrip kamu akan diberi “TS” (tidak selesai)

Semua ini adalah hasil perbincangan saya dengan Ketua Jabatan JKM dan juga beberapa penyelia kamu. Semoga dengan adanya jadual sebegini kamu akan on track untuk menyelesaikan kerja2 PSM kamu sekalian.
